Tresselating Fish, more new yarn

I bought some Vanna's Choice Lion Brand Yarn, and "hey Mikey", I liked it! I also found a pattern that I liked that I saw on Ravelry, called Tresselating Fish. It is apparently an old pattern found in Knitter's Magazine, and a lady out in blogland sort of figured out how to work a similar pattern. I am really liking the way it is working up. The bottom "fish" looks brown in this light, but it is really a mossy green color! The "fish" are fairly fast and easy, and I hope to eventually have an afghan of some sort in the fall colors I have picked out. I will post as I progress..................

That is really a neat idea and your little fish look good. I have been a crocheter of granny squares for years but couldn't quite get the hang of regular crochet. I have been a quiltmaker for about 30 years and I really enjoy it but still wanted to crochet. I have made a tessalating quilt but it is a straight edge pattern, nothing like those fish. Some quilt artists have made quilts that are made with lots of curves or other unusual shapes. I wouldn't even want to try that. But looking at the fish, I think that would be easier because the yarn has give-unlike fabrics. The stretch will allow you to work better with the pieces. I happened upon the ripple, granny and crochet alongs a few months ago and seeing all the wonderful things, I was determined to learn crochet. After much starting and ripping out and a lot of practice I finally have gotten the basics of crochet. I'm making a ripple afghan and doing some simple little amigurumi things so I'm getting comfident. The fish look like something I'd like to try.

I love that yarn too. I just wish the price would come down a little. I don't like paying extra just for Vanna's name. Love the whole fishy blanket. Can't wait to see it finished. Wishing there was a crochet version.

Happy Belated Birthday!!!
