Seeing Double!

Got to see my sweet twin grandsons this past weekend. I miss them already! They are at the very fun stage!

My DH got to ride a Harley Davidson with my DD, they made a trip to South Padre Island and had some father/daughter bonding time.

While there, I finished up this "Stir me up" potholder pattern by MintyFresh on Ravelry. DD grabbed it for herself, and told me the only potholders and dishcloths she has are the ones I make for her. Awwwwww! Isn't that sweet? :)

Still no new crochet content to report....but I've been reading as much as possible. I am currently interested in Michal Connally's books, and also books by Jan Burke. Each author has a series going, so I am enjoying getting to follow the characters. I got new photos of my dd and the grandtwins recently.

I am still not giving up hope about being able to get back to my crocheting soon.

GrandTwin photo update!

"Ohhhhhh, pretty"! (GrandTwin #1)
"Hey mom....are you sure this thing doesn't bite"? (GrandTwin #1)

"These bubbles tickle!" (Grandtwin #2)
"Me and my rubber Ducky" (Grandtwin #2)

DD took these photos for a baby photo contest.
Whether or not they win, they are the cutest in Grandmommy's book! :)

Christy over at My Best Friend calls me Martha has really been inspiring me (crochetwise) lately. She has two different projects that I want to try. The crochet purse Halle is carrying in today's post (pattern for a similar one is in Ravelry, here), and a Lion toy she crocheted a while back, here. Michelle at Mik Knits, Crochets & Quilts, too has also been a sewing inspiration lately. Look at the cute curlers she found to make in her post today! Oiyi is also finding new things to sew, go check it out!

Lazy Summer Days

Since Granddaddy's (my FIL's) death on July 5, I haven't done anything in the way of needlework. My new job, combined with his recent death, has taken most of my focus this month. The high temps here in DFW this summer haven't helped me want to do much, either. I have been reading ALOT, instead.

For some reason, James Patterson has been an author that I have always avoided reading in the past (don't ask me why, I can't explain it!) However, when I finally picked up the 4th, 5th and 6th books in the Women's Murder Club series at a garage sale one day, I decided to read him, and SURPRISE! I actually like them. I also picked up one called "Big Bad Wolf" and "Four Blind Mice" in the Alex Cross Series that I finally read and liked, also a stand alone called "Lifeguard". I finally broke down and went to Half Price Books yesterday and got the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd books of the Women's Murder Club to read, and I have put the 7th book on hold at my local library. I am a major bookworm and read voraciously, so most of the time, I don't like to spend a lot of money on books unless it is at a garage sale, because we would be talking MAJOR bucks if I did. I have library cards to most of the smaller cities around FW, and also three in other cities across the state. I don't EVER want to be unable to read, where-ever I may go! :)

I am including what I think is a funny photo of the twins that DD sent me yesterday. She had just fed them and they are "passed out".

I was looking around on Ravelry awhile ago, and saw a knitted dishcloth pattern I would like to try. It is called Lizard Ridge and is a dishcloth version of the Lizard Ridge afghan pattern found on http://www.knitty.com/issuefall06/PATTlizardridge.html.

Finally, a photo of the festive gifts I will be mailing to DD to celebrate her birthday later this month.

Family time..Finished Bumper pads

Me, getting to pose with the boys!

DD and DS....they look like they have always gotten along so well, don't they? heh.........................

We got to see DD, DS and the twins this weekend. Here is a photo of the boys with their (finally!) completed bumper pads.

Updates

Another Grand-twins update photo. DD took it with her cell phone camera. The boys are now 12 lbs each, after starting out at 4.9 and 5.1. From the looks of the photos, they are hearty eaters! :)

Not much crochet progress to report. I didn't work on anything yesterday, at all. Instead, I did all my "running around doing errands" last night after work. I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics to look at yarn because I am at the point of changing colors on my Mystery Project, and don't know what color I want to use. I can't really ask for help on color choices "out loud" on my blog, or my buddy might figure out the surprise! I had picked up one color I thought I would try, but it might be too close in color to be the contrast I want it to be. Decisions, decisions!

And speaking of decisions.....the job opening has been posted, and yesterday at quitting time, I let my immediate supervisor know I was planning on applying. She then proceeded to tell me that SHE is planning on going job hunting soon, due to high gas prices and having to drive so far back and forth (she lives on the far side of Dallas and we work in Fort Worth), and asked if I would be interested in possibly being offered HER job if she leaves! I might....but the work would still be the same old, same old..... and I have no guaranty that our department boss would offer ME anything. I have to take the application form to my Department boss for signature this morning, so I can turn it in to Human Resources. Wish me luck with it all!

Fat Bottom progress, another new project started.....

Yes, you read it right! I am almost halfway done with the fat bottom bag, and got a wild hair to start another project (in the middle of the night last night, when I woke up and couldn't sleep) that I have been wanting to start. I can show a photo of the second project right now, but as I get further along, it will have to wait until the end to be shown or talked about, so a certain "someone" won't know exactly what they are getting as a gift. And they will probably partially guess it right anyway, just from seeing this......

In other news, I am seriously thinking about applying for another job that is coming open within my company, probably next week. I have spoken to the supervisor of that area already, and feel I might have a shot at getting it, since it is more similar to work I have done for about 20 years. I feel like I am stagnant at the department I am at, and don't see any changes on my horizon any time soon. What work is available is extremely boring to me, and not much of it right now. I have continuously volunteered and helped in other areas as much as possible, but its not steady work, either. Our company is growing (just not my particular department right now) and I keep getting assured there will be "more to do", but I have been waiting for it to "pick up" for about 6 months now. Heh, heh, I bet most of you don't usually hear people complain about not having enough work! :)

Here's an interested observer (above) and an updated photo of my Grand-twins (below)!

I'm Seeing Double!

The twins (boys) arrived at 12:45pm today! They are healthy and doing well, as is DD. My two newest buddies are beautiful! Am I a proud Granny or what!?

Pressure!

DD called last night and told me the twins might be coming sooner than expected! Her Doctor is hoping DD can carry them at least ONE more week before having to deliver them. Sheesh, nothing like a little PRESSURE to get me working to finish the UFO nursery items!
